The Mountain Rim Gymnastics Conference was founded in 2013 and formally recognized by the NCAA in 2014. After the Western Athletic Conference stopped sponsoring gymnastics, the teams it left behind took matters into their own hands and created a gymnastics-only conference to allow their teams to continue competing. Founding members Boise State, BYU, Southern Utah and Utah State comprise the current roster, while the fifth founding team, Denver, left after just one year to join the Big 12 as an affiliate institution. Though the conference has no national titles to its name, each of its teams are quickly rising, steadily improving with each passing year.
