Centenary College of Louisiana is the sole Division III program in the MIC conference. Centenary has supported a gymnastics team since the 1970s. In 1978, it won the DII AIAW Championship (the women’s predecessor to NCAA), led by future Olympian Kathy Johnson (Clarke), who also won the all around title. Centenary took the DII team title four years in a row, from 1978-1981. In recent years, Centenary has moved into DIII and often finishes ranked in the 60s or 70s—near or at the top of DIII programs. The team won the 2004 USAG National Championships, and has taken the MIC title three times (2003, 2008 and 2013).
